You need people to think differently, shift perspectives and cross boundaries. We create unique learning spaces where participants gain insights into themselves and others to spark a fresh approach.
Participants find our learning experiences to be enjoyable and enlightening;
They tell colleagues:

What we offer...
Learning for leaders
Today’s leaders must be inclusive, collaborative and courageous. Our leadership programmes take participants on a journey of discovery that reveals new ways of engaging with people and new ways of thinking. We support individuals to find their own voice and their authentic leadership style so that they can achieve three things:
Direction: where, why and how?
Alignment: of people, values, strategy, plans and activities
Commitment: to collective success, beyond individual interests and loyalties
Our programmes are stimulating, challenging, nurturing, supportive and very enjoyable.
We design and facilitate:
- Leadership programmes
- Action learning
- Short workshops
We offer short workshops on:
- Personality differences
- Collaborative leadership
We also design programmes that you can deliver yourself in-house.
Discovery for teams
"You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation"
Collaboration between colleagues, between teams, between organisations and with their stakeholders is the only way we can meet today’s complex challenges.
Teams need the participation of everyone to find the best answers. We design and facilitate meetings, away days and conference sessions to help you to do so.
We help you to:
- Step aside usual patterns of discussion
- Find new light on a subject
- Solve problems together
- Define strategic priorities
- Co-create new ideas
- Build and bridge teams
We draw on a range of techniques from Myers-Briggs typology to metaphorical drawing to mindful walking to design a day that is right for your culture and achieves your goals.
“All our development work is founded on three values...
Curiosity, compassion & courage”Kate Tapper, Bud Development Founder
Who we've worked with...
“Kate is a pleasure to work with; she has helped us to develop our research team leadership portfolio and participants respond well to her warmth, enthusiasm and expert facilitation skills. Kate brings a wealth of experience, fresh ideas and brain friendly learning to our organisation.”Lisa Burman,
Organisation Development Manager, Coventry University
“Thank you for a very productive and enjoyable day! Not only did we achieve a sound plan for our future as one team but we also learned a lot more about each other, and have since felt a lot closer as a team. Everything from the warm welcome at the start, to the plan of action, and then to the giveaway ceremony at the end were all very well executed; putting the whole team at ease. Our facilitator was especially wonderful at including every member of the team in all discussions and proposals. We would whole-heartedly recommend Bud Development. Thank you again from all of us!”Head of Professional Services,
School of Biological Sciences, University of Bristol
“It enabled me to develop a much clearer view of where I am now, where I would like to get to in the future, and to develop a plan of action to bridge the two…I found the Programme useful in an immediate, practical sense, but also in a more strategic, long term context. I have already recommended it to several colleagues.”Dr Michelle Barbour,
Head of Oral Nanoscience, University of Bristol
“This was an excellent course, well planned, well run, expertly delivered, and genuinely helpful. Kate is an inspired and inspirational trainer - astute, adaptable and always engaged and engaging. First class. Every word meant!”Dr Imogen Moore,
Director of Education, University of Bristol Law School
